Now-Mar 2014: Sacred Spaces: Connecting with the Land

Sacred Spaces: Connecting with the Land
NACOGDOCHES, TX
Stone Fort Museum

What landscapes do people identify as sacred?
How do people assign meaning to a place?

From the backyard vegetable garden to a favorite vista, we establish personal connections with our environment, and connections that are a reflection of our group identity.

This exhibit uses descriptions of Texas from diaries dating to the late 1600s, and contemporary journals of the East Texas landscape to explore the many ways we connect with our environment.

Nov: Fall Foliage in Nacogdoches County

Fall in Nacogdoches County by Bruce Partain
Autumn may come a bit later in the Forest Trail, but the kaleidoscope of color it brings is well worth the wait.

In Nacogdoches County, deep reds and brilliant golds are already painting the landscape, contrasting with the evergreen pines for a impressive autumn display that will continue through the month of November.

The Nacogdoches CVB has shared a driving map to guide travelers along the numerous highways in the Forest Trail.

See the map below and visit Nacogdoches via U.S. Hwy 59, State Hwy 21 and State Hwy 7.
