Jan 25: Alabama-Coushatta Pow-wow

If you are looking for a family outing for Saturday, Jan. 25, the Alabama-Coushatta Indian Tribe of Texas is hosting its 16th Annual Children’s Pow Wow.

Dancers and vendors will register and set up around 9 a.m. followed by gourd dancing at 11 a.m. and a grand entry competition dancing at noon.


That evening, festivities will pick up again at 5 p.m. with dinner, followed by a gourd dance at 6 p.m. and a grand entry competition dancing at 7 p.m.

Dancers will be dressed in full regalia and will dance along with tribal drums.

The Alabama-Coushatta Indian Tribe is located at 571 State Park Road 56 just 15 minutes east of Livingston on FM 190. To get there, take US 59 north to Livingston and follow the signs to reach 190 east.
