Shelby County is hosting a Sanctioned Cook-OFF with Big Money Prizes.

per meat category
In addition to the cook-off, there will be a 42 Tournament beginning on Friday, March 21 at 7:00 p.m. at Sombreros Mexican Grill sponsored by Covington Lumber and Construction, a Show & Shine Classic Car exhibit by the Shelby County Cruisers, contests and live bands.
The Pork Spare Rib
competition is sponsored by Specter, Inc., the home of T/R's Steaks and
More and Endless Possibilities Catering. The Chicken cook-off category
is sponsored by Tyson Foods. The Brisket showdown is sponsored by Center
Livestock Auction Company. Before the pits are fired up, each entry
will undergo a meat inspection sponsored by Brookshire Brothers.
Doors open at the Civic Center at 12 noon
for spectators. An all-day, come and go pass is $10 for the indoor and
outdoor activities. Center Broadcasting Company and KQBB 100.5 FM will
be broadcasting live from Grill Fest from 12 to 2:00 p.m. Saturday
afternoon. The crowd will be entertained with live music presented by
Farmers State Bank when Danny Paul Windham and the Pine Hill Review take
the stage at 3:00 p.m. followed at 6:00 p.m. by Ashton Hill Band.
Entries will be accepted for the Washer Pitching Contest sponsored by
Shelby Savings Bank at 12 noon.
The fun-filled day is
assisted by Pitmaster Sponsors Liberty Tax Service, Texas State Bank,
East Texas Poultry Supply, Impressions Advertising, 4C Electrical
Services, Ray Jones Chevrolet, McAdams Propane, Pineywoods Beverage,
Center Tire and Shoop Financial.
Tasting samples from Grill Fest will be shared at 5:00 p.m.
in Foster Hall. An awards presentation will follow with category
sponsors presenting prize checks and trophies to the cook team winners.
